‘Weiss & Morales’ continues to demonstrate the potential of high-quality European co-productions. Following its run on RTVE and its arrival on Netflix, the procedural produced by Portocabo premiered on German public broadcaster ZDF with audience figures that confirm its excellent reception: three million viewers per episode and a final season average audience share of 16.3%.

At its premiere in Germany, the series ranked among the most outstanding Sunday titles in its time slot, exceeding the slot’s usual average by more than four points. The second episode further increased audience interest, reaching a 17.1% share, the best figure of the season.

In total, ‘Weiss & Morales’ has accumulated more than 12 million views in Germany, combining linear broadcast audiences with catch-up viewing on ZDF’s streaming platform. These results cement the series’ position as one of the most outstanding international launches of the season in the German market.

Its strong performance on ZDF adds to the production’s international trajectory. Since its release on Netflix, ‘Weiss & Morales’ remained among the platform’s ten most-watched titles for eight weeks, becoming one of the Spanish productions with the most notable recent presence in the platform’s global ranking.

In addition to its audience performance, the series has built a solid track record of international sales. It has been acquired in key markets across Europe, Asia and Latin America, including Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom. Moreover, its success in Germany has driven new sales in the local market, with availability on platforms such as Amazon, Telekom Deutschland, Apple TV and iTunes.

These figures reinforce Portocabo’s commitment to a collaborative production model between European partners, capable of connecting with audiences in different territories while maintaining a recognisable local identity. Set in the Canary Islands, which become almost another character in the story, ‘Weiss & Morales’ follows German BKA agent Nina Weiss, played by Katia Fellin, and Civil Guard Sergeant Raúl Morales, played by Miguel Ángel Silvestre. The two are forced to work together, despite their differences in character and method, to solve the crimes shaking the archipelago’s Spanish-German community.
